About This Station

The station is powered by a Davis Vantage2 Pro weather station and commenced operation in August 2014. The data is collected every 2 seconds and the site is updated every 10 seconds using the CumulusMX Software Suite. The station is comprised of an anemometer, a rain gauge, temperature and humidity sensors enclosed in a solar-powered fan-aspirated radiation shield (to minimize the effects of solar radiation), a UV senor and a solar sensor as depicted below.

Weather Station Location

The Weather Station is located near the township of Wolumla, New South Wales, Australia which is on the Princes Highway between Bega and Merimbula.

Latitude: -36:50:2
Longitude: 149:48:35
Elevation: 173m

Data Sources and Forecasts

This site is based primarily on the data generated by the weather station although some data such as Radar images are sourced from the Australian Government Bureau of Meteorology. Forecasts are drawn from freely available data from the Australian Government Bureau of Meteorology as well as from the Weather Underground network which provides more detailed forecasts with a similar degree of accuracy.

Current Conditions

This site downloads the METAR reports from Merimbula Airport every 15 minutes, which is located roughly 12km to the South East on the coast. The current conditions of the sky reported by this METAR are used to set the sky conditions for this weather station. Please note that there can be differences in the conditions between Merimbula and Wolumla so the indicated "current conditions" icon and text may not reflect the conditions in Wolumla.
